COVID-19 hospitalizations drop in Oakville, Burlington, Milton as do number of vaccinations given

COVID-19 hospitalizations are down in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills on Jan. 25.

There are currently 44 COVID-19 patients at Oakville-Trafalgar, 23 at Joseph Brant in Burlington, 18 at Milton District and 5 at Georgetown.

According to the Region of Halton, acute care bed occupancy is at 108 per cent and ICU bed occupancy rate is at 88 per cent.

There are 37 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 at institutions and congregate living centres in the region. The largest is at Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which has spiked again to 149 active cases.

Other large outbreaks are at long-term care centres Chartwell Brant Centre with 88, Rivera Burloak with 78 and The Village of Tansley Woods with 44.

There were only 2,356 vaccinations given in Halton yesterday, a number that is about a third of the daily totals given the past few weeks. Across the region, more than 88 per cent of those aged 12 and over have received at least two doses of the vaccine.
