A cinnamon roll company that was featured on ABC’s hit television show Shark Tank is rolling into downtown Oakville next week.

Cinnaholic, a gourmet cinnamon roll bakery, is celebrating its grand opening next Friday (May 27) at its new location on 259 Lakeshore Road East in Oakville.

Owners and entrepreneurs Vikasni Manoharan and Atheindhar Rajendran have long dreamed of owning their own bakery in the downtown Oakville area.

The couple note the similarities between Oakville and Halifax, N.S., their first “love” when they landed as international students in Canada.

Cinnaholic, which gained national attention after being featured on Shark Tank, proved for them the best way to make the dream of owning a bakery come true.

“Why Cinnaholic? We’ve been blown away by the quality, options and products that are offered to customers,” said Manoharan. “In addition to the delicious and addicting cinnamon rolls, the bakery is quite socially responsible. Once people find out we are vegan and lactose free, they’re hooked.”

Customers will be able to choose from a variety of Cinnaholic’s signature frosting flavours and toppings to create their very own cinnamon roll.

The couple also add that customers can expect nothing less than the highest quality ingredients, as the plant-based bakery franchise was founded upon a commitment that all ingredients must be animal-free and free of dairy, lactose, eggs and cholesterol.

In addition to cinnamon rolls, Cinnaholic offers cookie dough by the scoop, brownies and Dole Whip.

To celebrate its grand opening next Friday, the bakery will be offering a special deal where cinnamon rolls can be purchased for only $1 (one per customer) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on opening day.

The philanthropically minded couple is also teaming up with the Oakville & Milton Humane Society during the grand opening weekend, where they will match donations from customers who choose to donate between Friday and Sunday.

Manoharan and Rajendran are also participating in the Mission Pawsible Cause Marketing Challenge (omhs.ca/missionpawsible), which runs May 30 to June 11. The couple are challenging other businesses in the community to take up a mission to help the most vulnerable animals as well.

“Love the product, and love what it stands for.”

Cinnaholic was also recently featured on Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500® list.

The company began franchising in 2014 and currently has over 100 units in development.
