Burlington showing 170 new cases of COVID-19, five in Joseph Brant Hospital

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Halton more than doubled overnight, 515 up from 237 the day before.

In Burlington, there are 170 new cases, with a total of 531 active.

Across the region, the ICU occupancy rate is 65 per cent. Joseph Brant Hospital is currently caring for five COVID-19 patients.

There is one workplace outbreak in Burlington with 27 total cases. The Region of Halton Public Health Department, however, refuses to divulge the location of most workplace outbreaks.

More than 87 per cent of eligible Halton residents have received at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine while 89 per cent have received one.

Yesterday in Halton, 7,632 vaccinations were given, 6,634 were booster shots. On Tuesday, 7,101 shots were administered.

Province-wide, there are 5,790 new cases, bringing the rolling seven-day average to 4,002. More than a quarter-million vaccinations were given yesterday and about 17 per cent of Ontarians have now received a third COVID-19 dose.
