An upcoming event in Burlington meant to raise awareness about school bus driver shortages will allow attendees to try their hands at driving a school bus.

The event, called First Student’s Big Bus, No Big Deal, will take place on Aug. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 5401 Dundas St.

First Student is a leading provider of school transportation services that operates in 460 locations across the U.S. and Canada.

The company works with school districts to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective transportation for roughly five million students per school day, employs over 48,000 people and operates and maintains more than 43,000 buses.

At the event, the team will be conducting on-the-spot interviews for anyone interested in joining the First Student family as a bus driver. As a result, attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes.

“Come try driving a big bus and see that it’s no big deal!” reads the event’s page.
A valid license is required to drive the school bus, but families are welcome to attend and grab First Student “swag,” ice cream from their own truck and meet the team.
