The City of Burlington recently announced the addition of disc (frisbee) golf and outdoor winter pickleball courts as additional free outdoor physical activity opportunities for residents.

Disc golf, a golf-style game played with specialized flying discs, will be available at Tyandaga Golf Course located at 1265 Tyandaga Park Dr. beginning Jan. 30 until Spring 2021.

Residents interested in playing may bring their own discs or borrow some from the city’s lending library, available for online reservations and curbside pick-up from Brant Hills Community Centre, located at 2255 Brant St.

Residents are reminded that this course is not intended for organized team play at this time. There is no registration necessary needed and it is free to play, seven days a week.

All participants must ensure they are physically distancing themselves from anyone who is not within their households and follow all current public health directions.

Outdoor pickleball courts will open at Leighland and Optimist Park once the court and weather conditions improve.

This activity is considered outdoor exercise and is exempt from the stay at home regulations.

Courts will be open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to dusk, weather permitting.

Play is restricted to 30 minutes when others are waiting and is based on a first-come basis. Players will need to bring their own equipment and follow all physical distancing regulations.
