Durham Police have found a body in Lake Scugog, though it is unknown if it is the same person who disappeared under the waves Saturday evening nears Fralick’s Beach on the north-west coast of Scugog Island.

Freelance news photographer Colin Willimson posted the news on social media but the discovery has not yet been confirmed by police.

Durham Police and Scugog Fire have been scouring the lake since Saturday after a person went under the water off the beach, which is located just west of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation’s boundary.

The discovery comes after the marine unit issued lake safety tips twice this weekend.

The previous week was a busy one for the unit, with 42 boat stops, 12 charges, 25 cautions and three rescues.
