A beloved Milton golf store has announced that they will be closing after 35 years in business.

Clarke’s Golf and Promotional Services, located at 309 Steeles Ave E, is best known for being one of the longest-running independent golf retail stores in Ontario.

Specializing in custom clubs, repairs, promotional products and more, this shop was a go-to for many Milton residents over the last three decades.

In a heartfelt message on its website, the business explained that it was “time” for them to retire and that they will miss their loyal customers and friends.

“Why are we retiring? Well, it is just time. All good things must come to an end. The most difficult part of retiring will be saying goodbye to all of you, our loyal customers and friends,” reads their website.

“We love the business and we love the people, both our customers and suppliers. We are so honoured to have had the pleasure of getting to know so many wonderful people over the years.”

The shop also announced its retail closure in a post on Facebook, which encouraged the public to take advantage of its liquidation sale.

“After 35 years we are closing the retail part of our business. Liquidation sale on now through the end of October. Thank you Milton for your support through all the years!”

In response to the post, several members of the public congratulated the shop owner, Bill Clarke, on his retirement.

According to the shop’s Facebook page, all remaining stock has been reduced to sell and includes top name brands such as Scotty Cameron, Ping, Titleist, TaylorMade and Callaway. The store has full sets, putters, drivers, fairway woods, wedges, balls and apparel.

The shop’s closing sale will end on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.

Additionally, according to their website, despite the closure, the store can still be contacted by phone or email and will continue to service existing corporate clients and offer some promotional products, such as logoed apparel and golf products by request.
